Mrs. Cornelia P. Dossett, 96, of Macon, Ms passed away on Monday, December 23, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon, MS with Dr. Bill Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in Artesia Cemetery in Artesia, MS. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. The family requests no flowers, please; memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 540, Macon, MS 39341 or to your favorite charity.

Mrs. Dossett was born on September 28, 1917 in Richmond, KY to the late Charlie and Willie Lowery Parke. She moved to Brooksville in 1919 and attended school in Brooksville and later graduated from Macon High School as Valedictorian of her class. Mrs. Dossett was employed by M & F Bank in Macon for 16 years. She moved to Artesia in 1951 and worked at Artesia State Bank acting as manager for several years. On the death of husband, Silas Gillespie, she moved back to Macon and was employed with Flora Insurance Agency for 31 years. She was an active member of First Baptist Church and was a charter member of the W.M.U. Night Circle and also Ageless Wonders. She belonged to the Pilot Club, Magnolia Club, Jolly 20 Club, and Noxubee County Historical Society. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husbands Silas Gillespie and Evan Dossett and sister Hazel Barnett.

Mrs. Dossett is survived by her son: Charlie Moore Gillespie of Huntsville, AL; step daughter: Mackie Bethay and her husband, Woody Bethay, also of Huntsville, AL; three step-grandchildren,five step-great grandchildren,one niece and one nephew.
