Calvin Maxwell Hull, 83, of Brooksville, MS. passed away Monday, October 28, 2013 at Lakeside Nursing Home in Quitman, MS. Funeral services are planned for Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 4 p.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon, MS. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3-4 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clark County Baptist Association, Quitman, MS or Brooksville Baptist Church, c/o Judy Bolin, P.O. Box 52, Brooksville, MS 39739. Mr. Hull was born on December 28, 1929 to the late John Samuel and Maude Alice Coker Hull in DeKalb, Ms. He graduated from DeKalb High School in Kemper County, MS. He served in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Korea. When he got out of the Army, jobs were hard to find. In 1947, he got a job driving hauling cattle by semi-truck for Meridian Stockyard. Throughout his 51 year driving career, he hauled fertilizer, propane, concrete, and gasoline. He drove for Miller Transport Co. for 33 years, working out of the Meridian Miller Transport Terminal for many years later and later transferring to the terminal in Artesia, MS. where he worked until he retired. He logged almost a 4 million miles as a driver. He won many safety awards and was the trainer for all new drivers for the company. He attended Brooksville Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife: Janie Hull, and siblings: Marie Hull, Mattie Myers, Bonnie Jo Byrd, Katie Ray Thompson, & Rev. Samuel J. Hull.
Survivors include his daughters: Sandy Davidson of Quitman and Becky Canull of Caledonia, MS; stepdaughter: Jean Parker of Jackson, MS and step-son: Larry Eaves of Atlanta, GA; and brother: Railey Hull of Philadelphia, MS, 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
