Ilene Hope Gregg

Mrs. Ilene Hope Gregg, 59, of Macon passed away at her residence in the Butler community Tuesday March 12, 2013 after a long illness. Mrs. Gregg was a native of Moss Point, MS, and was the daughter of the late William Marion and Olive Louise Cronier Raybon. She attended East Central High School in Jackson County, MS. On January 28, 1971, she married Larry Gregg and they made their home in Jackson County until 1974 when they moved to Larry’s home community of Butler in Noxubee County, MS. She was a housewife and homemaker who reared their five children in that rural community. She and her husband were longtime members of Macon Pentecostal Church in nearby Macon. Mrs. Gregg was an accomplished cook who was renown in the area for her delicious food and she actually operated a small restaurant on weekends near her home for a brief time. She also made plate lunches for the elderly and shut-ins in the community and enjoyed helping them. She made friends easily and enjoyed talking to both old and new friends. Mrs. Gregg loved her family very much and was always very protective of all of her children. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother: Jimmy; and one son: Scotty Gene Gregg.
Ilene Hope Gregg is survived by her husband: Larry Gene Gregg; two daughters: Rachel Wilson (Daniel, Jr) and Amy Baldwin (Jeremy) as well as by two sons: Brian Gregg (Jean) and Jason Gregg (Patricia). In addition to her 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, she also leaves to mourn her passing three sisters: Dora Lovell, Theresa Hill, and Freida Janes and one brother: Charles Raybon
Mrs. Gregg’s funeral service will be held on Thursday March 14, 2013 from Macon Pentecostal Church at 11:00 A.M. with Bro. Jimmy Guy officiating. Interment will follow at Butler Cemetery near Shuqualak with Bro. Allen Eaves officiating. Visitation will held Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the church and again from 10:00 A.M. until service time Thursday at the church. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is entrusted with the services.
