Mrs. Barbara Jean Hailey Coleman, 61, of Shuqualak, MS passed away at Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle Hospital in Columbus, Ms on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013. Her funeral service will be held Sunday, February 24, 2013 from Soule Harbor Pentecostal Church in Shuqualak with Bro. Gerald Butler, Bro. Eddie Agnew and Bro. Allen Eaves officiating. Interment will follow in Butler Cemetery. Public visitation will held at Cockrell Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 P.M. The family requests all memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital Tribute Program 501 St Jude Place Memphis TN 38105-1942.
Barbara was born in Macon, Ms on February 7, 1952 to the late Charles Coalson and Dorothy Butler Hailey. She was a graduate of Dekalb where she was elected class beauty and was also a cheerleader. She was an outstanding basketball player and loved sports. After high school she began working for South Central Bell Telephone Company, where she remained for several years. She later worked for the State of Mississippi in the food stamp program. She also managed the SOS truck-stop in Clinton, MS for several years. She was an avid reader. She was a loving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother and was an outstanding cook and gracious host to her family and friends.
Barbara Jean Hailey Coleman is survived by her husband Tommy Dale Coleman of Shuqualak; one son: Bradley Coker (Shannon) of West Point, MS.; two step-children: Laycee Coleman Higginbotham (Jason) of Macon and Chris Coleman of Ocean Springs, MS as well as 4 grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her passing one sister: Lisa Hailey and one brother: Charles Hailey (Johnnie), all of Macon, MS. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
