Mrs. Mary Alice Morton, 80, of Macon, MS passed away Sunday December 30, 2012, at Noxubee General Hospital in Macon. Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. from West Side Baptist Church in Macon. Interment will follow at Old Union Cemetery in Shannon, MS at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be Wednesday at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Morton was born in Geiger, AL on March 24, 1932 to the late James America and Mary Bell Boone Trosper. She attended Mashulaville Agricultural School. At age 17, she married John Billy Morton, Sr. who preceded her in death on 1/19/1966. She worked for Macon Pants Factory for over 33 years until she retired. During that same time she worked as a waitress for Macon Truck Stop and later Dewitt’s Restaurant in Brooksville, MS. She was a faithful member of West Side Baptist Church in Macon. She loved her entire family and her whole world revolved around them. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Susie Sudduth, who passed away within an hour before Mrs. Morton’s death.
Those left to mourn her passing are four daughters: Mary Ann Card of Shuqualak, MS; Judy Triplett of Brooksville, MS; Janet Swinney of Forest, MS and Martha Hall of Macon, MS; two sons: Billy Morton of Starkville, MS and Eddy Morton of Louisville, Ms; a sister, Ida Warren of Dekalb, Ms and Robert Trosper of White Salmon, WA; 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
