Curtis Dodd, 55, a former professional house painter and longtime resident of Macon, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at his residence in Longview, MS. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 20, at 11:00 A.M. at Oddfellows Cemetery in Macon. Pastor Carl Johnson will officiate at the services. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Curtis Dodd fund c/o Cockrell Funeral Home P.O. Box 499 Macon, MS 39341.
Mr. Dodd was a native of Mississippi County, Missouri, the son of the late Robert Frank and Margie Harris. He was educated in Maben, MS. and enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served from 1974 until 1976. He was also in the U.S. Army reserve for seven years and was honorably discharged as an E-3. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Macon, MS. Mr. Dodd was a professional house painter by trade and was very skilled at his work. He was preceded in death by his parents and three nephews.
Curtis Dodd is survived by his two daughters: Angela Stewart and Zabria Dodd, both of Macon, MS as well as three sons: Curt Dodd, Immanual Dodd, and Tiedrekiss Dodd, all of Macon. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren. Also left to mourn his passing are four sisters: Zella Hartle of Columbus, MS; Susie Woods of Macon; Ruby Tedder of Starkville, MS and Ann Dodd of Maben as well as his two brothers: Robert Lee Dodd of Walnut Grove, MS and by Dennie Dodd of Bastrop, LA.
