Funeral services for Mr. V. L. Taylor will be held Saturday, May 19, 2012 at First United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Interment will be held in Oddfellows Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church fellowship hall from 1p.m. until service time Saturday. The family requests no flowers, memorials may be made to Central Academy, P.O. Box 231, Macon, MS 39341 or First United Methodist Church, P.o Box 162, Macon, MS 39341. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Taylor was born on August 9, 1917 to the late Verne and Mary Cotty Taylor in Fairview, Ill. He was a graduate of Fairview High School. He attended Western Illinois Teacher’s College for two years and was a graduate of the University of Illinois. He moved to Noxubee County in 1951 and went to work for Noxubee Milk Products. In 1955, he began working at the Mississippi Extension Service in Noxubee County. In 1965, he went to work for Farmers Home Administration and was transferred to Cleveland and retired out of the Jackson State office in December 1981. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he held many offices. He was a former member of Macon Lions Club, Jolly 20, and National Association of Federal Employees. After the death of wife, Faye Taylor in 2004, he moved to Trinity in Columbus, MS. and lived there until his death.

He was survived by two daughters: Sharon Cooper of Macon and Linda Taylor of Mesa, AZ; a sister, Dorothy Hardin of Phoenix, AZ.; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents and spouse, Faye S Taylor.
