Mr. Robert Walker, 85, passed away at his residence near Macon on Sunday, May 6. His funeral service will be held at graveside at Oddfellows Cemetery in Macon on Wednesday, May 9 at 11:00 A.M with Bro. Allen Mapp and Bro. Peyton Myers officiating. There will be no visitation. The family requests NO FLOWERS, PLEASE. Memorials may be made to Elon Baptist Church, co Rita Stewart, P.O. Box 128 Macon, MS 39341. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Walker was born on April 16, 1927 to the late Robert B. and Eleanor McCreight Walker in Macon, MS. where he was a longtime resident. He was a graduate of Macon High School and also attended East Mississippi Junior College. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a self employed dairy until his retirement and he enjoyed bird hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Mr. Walker was an active member of Elon Baptist Church where he especially enjoyed the Men’s Sunday School class. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife: Sallie Kate Higginbotham Walker; and one grandson: Matthew Walker.
He is survived by his daughter, Kay W. Hailey of Macon, Ms; 2 sons: Robert M. “Butch” Walker of Macon, MS and Larry Walker of Macon, Ms. A brother Wallace Kimbrough of Jackson, MS; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
