Roy Arthur Garrison

Rev. Roy A. Garrison, 91, passed away March 22, 2012 at Noxubee County General Hospital in Macon, Mississippi. Rev. Garrison was born to the late Donald L. Garrison and Myrtle Hank Garrison in Wood River, Nebraska on May 30, 1920.

He graduated from Wood River High School in Wood River in 1937 and assisted with the operation of the family farm in Wood River before joining the Army in 1942. Mr. Garrison served as a guard at the POW camp in Aliceville, Alabama where he met and later married the late Lucille Brown Garrison in 1946.

Rev. Roy A. Garrison was ordained into the ministry in 1958 at Calvary Baptist Church in Macon, MS. He served as a devoted pastor in the mission field in Montana and in churches and communities throughout Mississippi including Ruhama Baptist Church in Noxubee County, Buckatunna, Raymond, Stateline, and lastly Pine Hill Baptist Church in Enterprise, MS where he served 12 years before retiring from the ministry.

Mr. Garrison is survived by one son: Woodrow Brown of Booneville, MS as well as five grandchildren: Steve Brown of Starkville, MS, Stephanie Brown of Tampa, FL, Ty Brown of Nashville, TN, Chad Brown of Olive Branch, MS and Chase Brown of Starkville, MS and two sisters Donna Turner of Taylor, NE and Bethel Naab of Sargent, NE. Rev. Garrison was preceded in death by his wife Lucille Brown Garrison and three brothers: Glen Garrison, Ben Garrison, and Ralph Garrison.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, March 24, 2012 at Pine Hill Baptist Church at 3 p.m. with Bro. Lamar Lifer and Bro. Danny Bullock officiating. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon, MS is entrusted with the arrangements.
