Ann Rigdon Watkins

Mrs. Ann Rigdon Watkins, 68, passed away Monday, Feb. 27, 2012 at Anderson Regional Hospital in Meridian, MS. Mrs. Watkins, a Kemper county native, was born to the late Walter Fred and Delsie Elizabeth Howard Rigdon. She graduated from Porterville High School in Kemper County and later married James Watkins, with whom she moved to Macon, MS where they made their home. She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Watkins was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and spoiling the little children of the church and the neighborhood.

She is survived by her husband: James “Sugarpie” Watkins of Macon and one daughter: Prissy Watkins Emonet of Metairie, LA as well as by her three grandchildren: Paul, Colette, and Lilla Grace Emonet, all of Metairie. Also surviving Mrs. Watkins are her two sisters: Alice Skipper and Tommie Jean Morton, both of Shuqualak, MS and her two brothers: Leroy Rigdon of Collinsville, MS and Bobby Mack Rigdon of Meridian, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister: Peggy Parker and one brother: David Rigdon.

Ann was a beautiful woman inside and out. Her smile brought joy and peace to all who came into contact with her. Her love for God and her family was immeasurable and showed through in her acts of kindness for her church, her family and her friends. She is greatly loved and will be immensely missed by all. Her family finds comfort and strength in knowing that she now is in the presence of God our great Savior.

Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church at 10:00 A.M. with Bro. Greg Duncan and Dr. Bill Duncan officiating. Interment will follow at Oddfellows Cemetery. A time of visitation for the family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital 501 ST. Jude Place Memphis TN 38106-1905. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon, MS is entrusted with the arrangements.
