Tommy Cockrell

Tommy Cockrell, 67, passed away at his residence on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2012. Memorial services are incomplete at this time and will be
announced later.

A memorial service is planned at 4:00 P.M. Friday, Feb. 24, 2012 at McLeod Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Brooksville, MS. Visitation will be held at the church Friday one hour prior to the service . Memorials may be made to Central Academy P.O. Box 231 Macon, MS 39341 earmarked for the “Little Viking Day Care” program. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cockrell was born on August 2, 1944 to the late Will and Susie Boykin Cockrell, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a native and lifetime resident of Noxubee County, MS and was a graduate of Noxubee High School. He was a dairy farmer and a longtime truck driver. Mr. Cockrell had also served for three years as a Deputy Sheriff for Noxubee County. He was a member of McLeod Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Brooksville, MS. He loved spending time with his children and other family members. He was an avid reader of westerns and also enjoyed western movies on television. He also enjoyed professional football on TV and was a longtime fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the New Orleans Saints.

Mr. Cockrell is survived by his wife: Mary Cockrell of Macon; one daughter: Penny Cockrell of Macon, MS and one son: Will Cockrell of Starkville. He is also survived by a very special friend: Michael McDaniel, also of Starkville, MS.
