Geraldine Holland Harris

Mrs. Geraldine “Gerry” Harris, 84, passed away Friday, February 17, 2012 at Noxubee General Hospital in Macon, MS. Her funeral service will be held Monday, February 20, at 2:00 P.M. from graveside at Oddfellows Cemetery in Macon. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 1:45 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Dr. Bill Duncan will officiate at the service and Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is entrusted with the arrangements. Any memorials may be made to First Baptist Church P.O. Box 510. Macon, MS 39341.
Mrs. Harris was born in Douglassville, GA on November 11, 1927 to the late Joseph Tyre Holland and Sevola Phillips Holland. She was a graduate of Douglassville High School. She married Jimmy Harris on November 20, 1946 and they then moved to Macon, MS. She worked as a secretary at Merchants and Farmers Bank in Macon for over 22 years. Mrs. Harris was very active in civic affairs and was an avid reader. She was a longtime member of Pineview Country Club near Macon and enjoyed playing golf at the Zach Brooks Golf Course there.
Mrs. Harris is survived by one daughter: Jane Harris of Pearl, MS; one son: Richard Harris of Lauderdale, MS and also by two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and by one sister: Virginia H. Atkinson.
