Ronald (Doc) King, 83, of Macon, MS passed away at his residence Thursday, October 20, 2011. Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Magnolia Memorial Gardens in Aliceville, AL. Visitation will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home Inc., Macon, MS. Any memorials may be made to Cockrell Funeral Home for the benefit of Ronald King, P.O. Box 499, Macon, MS 39341.
Mr. King was born in Des Moines Iowa on June 28, 1928 to the late James and Retta Douglass King. He graduated from Hartford High School in 1948. In Decmeber of 1950, he moved to Macon, MS.. After moving to Macon he entered U.S. Army where he served as a radio operator in the Korean Conflict. After the war, he returned to Macon and began farming until he retired. He attended South Haven Church of God in Christ Mennonite Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, woodworking, and working with leather.
His survivors include a daughter: Shaaron Vaughn (Shaaron is spelled correctly)-Macon, MS; 3 sons: Doug King-Union, MS; Tim Jewell of Macon, Ms and John Jewell of Macon, Ms; a sister, Marianna Todd of Macon, MS ; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sarah King, and brother Stanley King.
