Mr. Tommy Calloway, 60, passed away on June 27 following an accident near his home east of Brooksville. Mr. Calloway, a Jackson, MS native and longtime Brooksville resident, is married to the former Patricia Cardin of Brooksville. He was born in Jackson on July 30, 1950 to the late Alvin Hillory and Inez Starnes Calloway. He graduated from Wingfield High School and received his B.S. and Masters degrees from Mississippi State University. He was a longtime employee of the Mississippi Department of Human Services, serving in the Macon, Louisville, West Point, and Columbus offices before retiring . He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and was also a staunch MSU Bulldog fan who looked forward to the football, baseball, and basketball seasons. For Tommy, the best two seasons of the year were the hunting season and MSU football season.
Mr. Calloway’s funeral service will be held from Cockrell Funeral Chapel on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. with Bro. Danny Avery officiating. Interment will follow in Brooksville Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday evening from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Calloway is survived by his wife: Patricia Cardin Calloway of Brooksville and by one son: Michael Thomas Calloway and fiancé Rebecca Blair of Montpelier, Vermont. Also left to mourn his passing are one sister: Beverly Beaird (Monroe) of Brooksville, MS; three nieces: Bobbye Jo Chism , Hannah Rachel Cardin, Mary Clair Cardin; one nephew: Bart Beaird (Gina) and one brother in law: Tommie S. Cardin (Susan).
