Mattie Ellen Caldwell

Mattie Caldwell, 84, passed away Friday June 10, 2011 at Noxubee County Nursing Home in Macon, MS. A memorial visitation will be held Sunday June 12 from 2-4 p.m. at the home of Greg and Virginia Cotton, 507 Line St., Shuqualak, MS. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. There will be a service at a later time held in Blytheville, AR with Cobb Funeral Home in charge there. Cockrell Funeral Home is in charge of services in Macon, Ms.

Mrs. Caldwell was born in Newport, AR to the late Jess and Ester Dewitt Logan. She attended the local school in Newport. She was a homemaker and was married to Ivery Caldwell who precedes her in death. She lived in Arkansas most of her life until the year 2000 when she moved to Mississippi to be near her daughter, Virginia. She was member of the Baptist church in Monette, AR. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking.

She is survived by her three daughters: Virginia Cotton of Shuqualak, Ms; Joanne Bird of Marion, AR and Judy Byrd of Sunflower, MS; one son, Dale Caldwell of Luxor, AR ; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
