Don Healy was a well -respected “veteran” funeral director in Mississippi for over 30 years. He retired from Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon at age 55 to focus on his favorite past time: golf.
Mr. Healy was very active in local and state organizations, including serving as an officer of the Mississippi Funeral Director’s Association for many years as well as serving on the Foundation Board of Community Counseling and was the first president of the Noxubee County Economic Development Authority.
He was a very active member of First Baptist Church in Macon for over 33 years and served as an officer, a Deacon, and also on many committees in the church. He and his wife Betty moved to Madison, Ms in 2010 where they joined First Baptist Church of Madison.
Being always active in civic and community affairs and an avid golfer until he could play no more, Don treasured the many friendships he developed over the years in work and play. The Zach Brooks Golf Course in Macon was his “home away from home” when he wasn’t with his beloved family.
Don Healy never met a stranger and will be truly missed by all who knew him. He made a statement by the way he lived his life.
