Irene Abrams Denton

Mrs. Irene A. Denton, 83, of Macon, MS passed away Friday May 6 at her residence in Macon. Her funeral service will be Monday, May 9 at 2:00 P.M. from Calvary Baptist Church in Macon, MS. Bro. Greg Duncan will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Lynn Creek Cemetery near Brooksville. A visitation for Mrs. Denton’s family and friends will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
Mrs. Irene Abrams Denton was born on February 20, 1928 near Brooksville to the late Joseph Jasper and Maggie Lee Bryant Abrams and lived her entire life in Noxubee County. She graduated from Brooksville High School and soon married Clarence Denton on January 14, 1952. They made their home in Macon, MS. She worked for Cal-Jac in Macon, MS for many years, retiring in 1994. She was a very friendly and outgoing person who enjoyed being with her friends, with her church family at Calvary Baptist Church in Macon, and especially with her family. She eagerly anticipated her annual trips to the Smoky Mountains with her sisters. She was very active in all the activities shared with the Ageless Wonders group and was a very faithful visitor at the Noxubee County Nursing Home where she shared her time with the residents. She enjoyed flower gardening and working in her yard.
Mrs. Denton is survived by two daughters: Judy Miller of Macon, MS and Sharon Clark of Louisville, MS. and by one son: Stanley Denton, also of Macon, MS. Also left to mourn her passing are four sisters: Frances Bell of Macon; Lynette Morgan of Flintstone, GA; Barbara Jean Edmondson of Louisville, MS, and Donna Nix of Clinton, MS. She is also survived by two brothers: John Wesley Abrams of West Point, MS and Charles Milton Abrams of Steens, MS as well as by her very special 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one sister: Trudy Abrams; and by two brothers: John Wesley Abrams and James Douglas Abrams.
