William Randolph Ewing

July 20, 1933 — March 2, 2011

After a brave struggle with pancreatic cancer, Randolph Ewing, 77, of Brooksville, MS has gone home to be with the Lord, passing quietly away Wednesday evening, March 2, 2011 at the Home Place Assisted Living in Columbus, MS. His funeral service will be held Sunday, March 6, at 2:00 P.M. at Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel in Macon, MS with Bro. Jearl Hunley and Bro. Howard Carroll officiating. Interment will follow at the Brooksville Cemetery. A visitation will be held Saturday March 5 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Cockrell Funeral Home. Memorials may be made the charity of the Donor’s choice. Casketbearers will be Buzz Soule, Michael Soule, Ken Misso, Chuck Misso, Bobby Putt, Bert Hadaway, Hunter Boxx, and Gary Hadaway. Honorary Pallbearers will include the members of the Country in the Park (Propst Park) and the members of the Brooksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Randolph was a native of the Lynn Creek community of Noxubee County, born to George Russell and Rosie Mae Butler Ewing, and moved to Brooksville at the age of twelve with his family. He lived in Brooksville all the remaining years of his life. He attended the Lynn Creek School and was a graduate of Brooksville High School. Mr. Ewing was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict in which he was seriously injured. While in the service of his country, he received several medals, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, and the UN Service Medal. He was a machine operator, working at B & W in West Point both before and after the war. He retired after more than 30 years of service with the company. He was a longtime member and Elder of the Brookville Cumberland Presbyterian Church and had also served for many years on the Board of Directors for the BPME Cemetery (known as Brooksville Cemetery) in Brooksville, MS.
He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Blanche Long Ewing of Brooksville, MS; two daughters: Mrs. Karen (Ray) Boxx of Grenada, MS and Mrs. Suzanne(Mike) Langford of Steens, MS. and one son: Randy (Judith) Ewing of Macon, MS, 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind one sister: Mrs. Annette Hadaway of Macon, MS. He was predeceased by his parents; one son: Ronald; and two sisters: Louise Hunter and Dolly Holley.
