Albert Patterson

Albert B. “Pat” Patterson, 77, a longtime resident of Shuqualak, MS, passed away Friday, December 24, 2010 at Baptist Memorial-Golden Triangle Hospital in Columbus, MS. His funeral service will be Tuesday, December 28 at 11:00 A.M. from Shuqualak Baptist Church with Bro. Derrick Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Shuqualak Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:30 until service time Tuesday at the church. Any memorials may be made to the American Lung Association of Mississippi P.O. Box 2178 Ridgeland, MS 39158-2178. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is entrusted with handling the arrangements.

Mr. Pat, as he was known to his friends and family, was born in Havener, OK on July 15, 1933 to the late Opal and Marie Patterson. He entered the U.S. Air Force and made a career of military service, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He was married to Yvonne Morace until her death in 1987 and, in 1988, he married Polly Davis Jernigan and moved to Shuqualak, MS. Mr. Pat served as Town Marshall of Shuqualak for many years. He was a member and Deacon of Shuqualak Baptist Church where he also taught Sunday School. He was a Mason and will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful dad, granddad, and husband.
Left behind to mourn his passing are his wife: Mrs. Polly Patterson of Shuqualak, MS and three daughters: Sharon (David) Dumas of Cairo, GA and Rebecca Salez and Renee Poole, both of Shuqualak, MS.
Also remaining are two sons: Tim Patterson of Newport News, VA and Joel (CeCelia) Patterson of Kannapolis, NC as well as 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
